Paintings 2017

2017 NOTES:

Planting Hope...Rising Up was the piece I was working on when the Bothell fire took 20 of my pantings (it was not yet titled).  Like others, it was a piece from the past that I had begun to paint and collage over.  It is textured with many many layers, as are most of my paintings, especially those I created following the fire.  I incorporated some gold leaf and black ink into the 8" x 8" pieces, and began to use drawings directly from my sketchbook on the 4" x 4" canvases.

Little houses, leaves, trees and garden elements continue to show up in my work... along with whatever else you might uniquely see.

The end of 2016, beginning of 2017 was a time of recovery and healing.  I had not only lost all but two of my collection of artworks, but I had lost a pregnancy.  I felt as if the universe was taking all of my babies.  I know how to take care of my spirit, so I painted my way through the grief, and here I am now, rising up.
